Country Day School

Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is an independent co-educational school located in the rolling hills of King Township immediately north of Toronto. The school places a high value on arts education for their students, from kindergarten to Grade 12.

As the leading project of its second wave of capital development, The Country Day School chose to construct an arts facility to accommodate both the visual and performing arts. This facility contains studios, practice and rehearsal rooms and a 350 seat theatre.

The theatre was designed as a concert venue in which drama and other events could be staged. In its purest form, the theatre can be a flat floor room of about 504 square metres (5,580 square feet). By extending a full tier of retractable seats, the theatre becomes a concert hall seating 350. Through the use of a rigging system above one end of the room and large proscenium doors, the theatre becomes a venue for drama and music theatre.
